Treatment of papillomas: means to remove them

Papilloma on the neck of a woman

Papillomas are benign neoplasms localized on the surface of the skin and mucous membranes, having the appearance of a papillary protrusion located on a thin "leg". This disease is associated with the human papillomavirus. The resulting papillomas can be scarred, painful and cause external defects. In this case, a natural question arises regarding their removal. Below we will talk about drugs to eliminate papillomas.

Human papillomavirus is far from a harmless representative of the viral flora. Not only does it cause the formation of papillomas and warts, but this pathogen sometimes causes the formation of malignant neoplasms, especially cervical cancer. In 2019, scientists published a study that found that the public's awareness of the human papillomavirus, its transmission routes, consequences and prevention measures is low.

Local medicines

Application of local drugs to eliminate papilloma

First, let's look at drugs specially designed to eliminate papillomas. You should consult a specialist before using them.

The first drug is a liquid for external use, it contains two components - metacresol and phenol. Avoiding contact with adjacent areas of the skin, it should be applied in a point direction to the affected areas of the skin or mucous membranes using a special stick. For small papillomas, as a rule, one application is enough, for larger ones, repeated applications (3-4 times) with intervals of several minutes may be required.

How does this tool work? The components included in the solution lead to coagulation of skin proteins, thanks to which papillomas disappear.

Another commonly used preparation is a liquid made from sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, and sodium hydroxide. It also has a cauterizing effect, not only papillomas, but also warts, genital warts, etc.

It also contains a solution:

  • nitric acid;
  • acetic acid;
  • lactic acid;
  • oxalic acid dihydrate;
  • copper nitrate trihydrate.

Refers to local necrotizing drugs, helps to destroy pathologically changed tissues. This product is also applied in spots on the affected area. If necessary, the processing is repeated several times.

Systemic therapy

Only local drugs are not enough to effectively fight papillomas. To prevent relapse, systemic therapy should be carried out, that is, antiviral and immunomodulatory drugs should be taken.

An example of this is inosine acedobene dimepranol. This drug is active against the human papillomavirus, helps suppress it in the body and has an immunostimulating effect.

We emphasize once again that you should consult a specialist before using any medicine.
